View Full Version : Two Future Scenarios For Parents-To-Be

When I was thinking about what I would say to my son if I ever had one, I thought about these two scenarios. This would put a different perspective on the issue if you were discussing with a parent-to-be:

What scenario would you rather deal with?

1. An angry son who later in life confronts you about why you decided to have the sensitive parts of his penis cut off. Even if the son didn't come to you would you wonder if he would someday resent you for altering his genitals?

2. A curious son who noticed his (cut) dad or another kid and wonders why his (intact) penis looks different.

No contest, I'd easily rather deal with 2.

Agreed.
Not only is #2 the better scenario, for obvious reasons, but in that scenario you have left a choice for the individual, the adult he grows to be can choose to be circumcised or not. The boy who was cut at birth was denied the choice.

I have an 8 YO intact son, and I have thought about this very scenario, and the obvious answer that came to my mind if/when he inquires about his foreskin, is to answer that this is the normal penis anatomy, and that we respected and do respect his right to decide what happens to this private part of his body. His body his choice.

Not only is my pro-circ family having to deal (though mostly they just ignore) with scenario #1 because of me, but my relatives may be dealing with it several times over years from now when my nephews and cousin's sons start asking questions about why their favorite body part was mutilated. I've already told my family that no son of mine will ever be circed.:D

Scenario 2 should be easy to explain as it is just the result of the ignorant or greedy surgical interference with an innocent baby boy which the father or friends have to cope with for the rest of their lives.

Surely it is better for the father to restore and so look more natural, more like his son than to mutilate the son to match his mutilated father.

I say #1, so he can be just like me!!!:D:D:D

I hope you know I'm being sarcastic!

Personally, I am working on scenario 3: Curious sons, watching their cut dad restore.

How about scenario 4 where the father has a further circumcision (if some is good, more is better) without anaesthetic to show his son how quick and painless it is so that the son can happily volunteer for the same treatment.

Yes, but pro infant circumcision sites would only qualify as INvoluntary torture forums.
