I bought a 1/3 page ad in the national glossy monthly magazine (circulation 50,000) of American Mensa to promote the March on Washington. I believe this is the first time in history foreskin restoration devices are being plugged in a national monthly. I think the readers of this journal could potentially be very persuasive advocates for intactness.
The language of the ad is very subtle with regard to foreskins and better sex. I submitted the ad and thought everything was fine and then 3 weeks later the magazine's editor decided it wasn't an all-ages ad. I spoke to him on the phone and he mostly seemed concerned that parents would be made uncomfortable if their kids saw the ad and asked the "why was I circumcised" question.
Well, this notification came after the March publication cut-off, so I begged for a grace period and quickly re-tooled the ad, emphasizing only the March on Washington. I wish I had the guts to insist that the ad go in as offered, but being turned down would have only done us some good if we could make news over it, and I just didn't see how that would happen since it is an all-ages magazine and they have every right to turn down any advertisement they wish.
Here are the intial and final ads:
