Hmm,it seems that Hades' dick is like circumcised dick.
I can't believe that Hades is considered as circumcised male in his arts.

The Greek people hated circumcision very well.

It looks to me like he's sporting about an inch of flaccid overhang.

 I'm not too sure about you, Yunus. Sometimes I think you're having a piss with us. Comments like this, plus your "post the ugliest circumcision thread" (with the hee hee that's a funny looking one) and others makes me leery of your intent and integrity... not to mention your writing style changes to better English at odd times here and there.

I just want to reveal my thinking only.If it made you uncomfortable,I'm really sorry because I don't learn how the way people here thinking.
I feel that what I revealed were usual.

If you are leery with me,I can respect your feeling.
But,you need to know that I hated circumcision so much & I support for the intactvism & also I'm really sure about myself.
I apologize for your discomfort.I'm still young,so I need some of your good advices.

I believe Yunus saw what I first saw, upon viewing the image. I've indicated why there may have been confusion. The left image, appears to be a circ'd penis from the side, with a big exposed glans. On the right it appears to be a flaccid, intact penis.

I'm sure he is meant to be intact in this painting, and that the illusion on the left image is just a strange coincidence.

Ancient Greek people hated circumcision very well and so I believed that Greek Gods, who were believed by ancient Greek people in the past, had intact penis.

If ancient Greek people view that their Gods had circumcised penis or permanent glans exposed penis,so ancient Greek people would agree & not hate circumcision.

Like I said before in ancient Egypt hieroglyph picture topic, circumcision were performed on slaves only. So,circumcised penis as the symbol of slave wouldn't be ancient Greek Gods penis.
But,it seems that ancient Greek people didn't give circumcision to slaves.Ancient Greek was free of circumcision.

I think people see what they want to see.

You have to really be looking for a circumcised, erect penis to be able to see that...

Maybe it's because I keep in mind that historically Greeks don't circumcise and have read that they appreciated small, flaccid penises that I saw this painting for what it was.

I quite like this depiction of Hades myself... a solitary dude that keeps to himself and prefers to hang out with his dog(s)... nice dick too. Chill, relaxed and unerect. :-)

I love that painting.... have a print of it on my wall in the studio
Anybody know who painted it? I cant seem to find an attribution anywhere.

The version I found seems to have more detail. I think he is intact with over hang and everyone is getting in a huff over his bush (pups) and a roll of fat.

But I am going to see if I can find a larger version, and who the artist is.

I've narrowed it down to two brother as a possible author Annibale or Augostino Carracci.

The Verdict is: Augostino Carracci and it is of Pluto, not Hades (technicalities I know, but helps in the search)

Considering that I glanced over and saw the post Yunus made, just before I clicked the link, yeah I was actually looking for that. The actual penis is in a kind of shadowed light, and doesn't stand out right away. Especially if you are starting from his chest when you open the image, and then moving down. Had the first comment I noticed said something about intact (as I'd never seen the painting before) I'd probably have skipped right past that first part I saw, and found the actual penis.

I hope my post didn't sound like I think this is a painting of a circ'd man. It took like a few seconds to see it correctly, and that was before posting. Just wanted to clear up Yunus's confusion.

Two thoughts:

1.) I agree that Hades looks to be circumcised. The slit there looks like a glans and not an oddly shaped foreskin opening.

2.) It's true that the Greeks were opposed to circumcision and thought an intact and rather compact penis, often with a noticible "overhang" was the male ideal. (How different than today, especially on the small part, haha) If you see a dude with a large, usually erect penis in Greek art, it's usually a satyr or pan or another horny deity, and it was meant to be comical as much as arousing. In fact, I just visited an antiquities museum and I say plenty of penises that day, haha, them Greeks and Romans didn't blush around male nudity, but I don't recall seeing any circumcised ones. HOWEVER, this painting doesn't look like an ancient Greek one to me. I'm not an art history expert, but it seems to be much more modern, either Renaissance or perhaps even Victorian. (And "Classical" [Greek, Roman, etc.] themes were very popular during both of those periods.) Now, in European art in general, since most non-Jewish Europeans don't circumcise, it's rare to see a circ'd penis, period. A glaring example is Michelangelo's famous statue of David. Next time you see it, look! The dude has a foreskin! And as a good Jew, David most definitely was cut. Anyway, my guess here (if my circ'd Hades theory is right) is that either the painter was American (making it likely Victorian, when more Americans circumcised) or he wanted to depict Hades that way for some unknown reason, maybe to mock the practice even. (Hades was, after all, the king of the underworld, and probably not the nicest fellow) He doesn't look erect to me, but perhaps he is supposed to be but the angle just makes it look smaller, for modesty's sake.
But if someone can find out who the painter was, that would help solve the dilemma!

Just my .10 I could be totally wrong!

Sorry, Metalware, just read your post. OK, so then it's probably a Renaissance portrait of Pluto/Hades. (Essentially the same deity; Hades=Greek name; Pluto=Roman)

Edit: Yeah, one source says it was by Agostino Carracci in 1592. I've looked at a few online copies of it, and its really hard to tell! I almost want to say it's intact, but it looks kinda pink there where the back edge/corona of his glans would be. Man, I'm spending way too much time focusing on this guy's penis lol

In 16th century, circumcision is very rare in the world.
I think that some irresponsible people probably edited the picture of Hades and made his penis became circumcised in his picture.

Guys.

In this picture, Hades is totally intact. No one has "edited" this picture at all, it really is quite clear.

He is not erect, but totally flaccid and sporting some good overhang.

There is simply no mistake about it.

Zoom in. The picture shows him as UNcircumsized.
