I have a deep interest in ethnic music. Actually, one of my favorite genres of music is gamelan from Indonesia, specifically Balinese gamelan.
I know of another kind of gamelan from Javanese.
Gamelan is a kind of music from Indonesia involving gongs, bells, drums and bells, but it's most famous for its metalophones. (Instruments made of metal that are struck.)
There are noted differences in Javanese and Balinese gamelan, namely that while Javanese gamelan tends to be slow and meditative, Balinese gamelan tends to be fast and shimmering.
Balinese gamelan tends to start off quite quickly, being fast and flashy from the start. This kind phenomenon is known as "kebyar," which means in the local language, to "burst into flames.
I really love kebyar. Here is an example of it. It's crazy!

Dances also accompany this music which also tends to be flashy.

I was hoping to hear what Yunus had to say of music in his country (I think he said he was from Indonesia?).
There are other genres (Indonesia has TONS of genres, but gamelan is probably my most favorite). Could you tell us about the music in your area, Yunus?
