So I was looking around MSNB.com today checking out the health stories well there was one about circumcision, the first paragraph was nice almost fair and balanced however by the time I got half way down I realized that it was very biased in the guise of being balanced. Well I decided to post a comment in the comments area and wouldn't you know it was pretty much just people condemning the article and the practice of circumcision for the most part. So it look like to me that while things have been rocky as of late with the CDC and other organizations thinking about recommending circumcisions again there are at least signs that people are now seeing circumcision for what it really is.
If you would like to read the article here is the address

Here is the link to the comments area if you want to see that

This is a very biased article
Yes it is and it tries to look unbiased and if you knew nothing about circumcision like most parents you would think that it was unbiased. Thankfully it seems that most people who read the article and commented about it see circumcision as something negative instead of something tolerable or positive.

The fact that he says comparing RIC to FGM is like comparing an appendectomy to an amputation is just offensive. Male genitals are just as important as females'.

"...so-called “intactivists,” are trying to scare parents with wild hyperbole like equating circumcision to female genital mutilation — which is about like equating an appendectomy with an amputation."
Hyperbole? Is that like telling parents that female genital mutilation victims can no longer feel sexual response?
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/118496293/abstract
http://www.labiaplastysurgeon.com/labiaplasty-clinical-study.html
Or that all FGM involves cutting out the labia and the clitoris and sewing up the opening to leave a small hole for menstruation?
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/20/magazine/20circumcision-t.html
Or comparing a needless surgery like circumcision to a necessary life-saving one like an appendectomy? Which, HELLO, IS an amputation? (What an idiot!)
THAT kind of hyperbole?
"So ignore the politics swirling around circumcision; they only obscure the issue. No parent needs what may be the first decision they make on behalf of their child to become a morality play."
Would you look at that. Someone actually calling on parents to be ignorant.
What a complete buffoon this guy is. Who does he think he's kidding?

He's probably just trying to make himself feel better by justifying his circumcision. Somebody should tell him about foreskin restoration. :p

It completely pisses me off the way people try to be "fair and balanced" when it comes to male circumcision.
Let's be "fair and balanced" about female circumcision and the social and religious implications behind it too for once.
Once again, another article that beats around the bush (no pun intended) of legality.
It is just assumed that parents can make this "decision" and doctors are just expected to "support parent's decision." What other elective procedure works this way? Fucking dispicable. THANK you MSN, for publishing such an article with the obvious agenda of easing the guilt of mutilating doctors and the parents of their victims.
Fucking disgraceful excuse for "journalism."

Ditto.
I find it especially curious that I've seen plenty of people who will say that male circ isn't a bad thing, then when called on it, they turn around and spout all that same kind of stuff about how wrong female circ is. They ignore research like that... Or the fact that there are variants which only involve the clitoral hood. Somehow, it's like only severe disabling circ exists in their minds. It's like those people harbor a double-sided ignorance. They're both ignorant about the harms male circ can do and that the majority (going by that study) of females can still experience some manner of sexual sensation after being cut. But maybe, in their minds, they only see it as impaired sexual functioning which it just so happens that we do as well!
That third article that you linked to does it too... I quote.
Any distinction between injuring the clitoris or the clitoral hood is irrelevant, says Laura Guarenti, an obstetrician and WHO’s medical officer for child and maternal health in Jakarta. “The fact is there is absolutely no medical value in circumcising girls,” she says. “It is 100 percent the wrong thing to be doing.” The circumcision of boys, she adds, has demonstrated health benefits, namely reduced risk of infection and some protection against H.I.V.
Oh I think a distinction is not only relevant but PERFECTLY so if you want to use logic like that... Why can it simply not be left to the fact that ALL forms of genital cutting when non-consensual violate human rights? I wonder if this women even personally cares and is just another of those self-interested ones with the issues that pertain to their sex... Has she even seen that study which suggests there is no difference between the virus' ability to infect the mucosa versus shaft skin? Just retarded.

It looks like Laura Guarenti didn't ever read the research that FGM makes women more resistant to the HIV virus, what an ignorant sexist woman.
