YouTube Channel dedicated to legalizing FGM

In this day and age, proponents of female circumcision in the civilized world are unheard of. But they still do, sadly, exist.
I recently found this channel on YouTube which promotes both female and male circumcision. Whoever runs it is spooning out propaganda left and right. While I doubt there are many gullible enough to take heed to this propaganda, it must be stopped regardless. If you know anybody who has access to whatever justice system exists on YouTube, please tell them to report this channel immediately. However, I think that with the policy YouTube has on freedom of speech, that might not do any good. We can try though.

Are you referring to "cleansexy"? I'm pretty big on youtube intactivism, and I come across that user on many circ videos. I've more than once been bothered by the fact that there is a "report background image" option on a person's profile... but no "report user" option. We may not be able to report people for MGM propaganda (as it's still legal mutilation), but surely we SHOULD be able to report those whom support FGM (as it's illegal).

Regardless of what the source of the YouTube content truly is, we must treat it rationally and slam-dunk the idea of FGM while making the case for equal protection for boys.

I'm not saying don't slam-dunk the idea. Anyone who's seen a video of one of these procedures (warning, it will disturb you), will say it's barbaric and terrible. Could be. But it doesn't work, cuz people already separate men in their minds. One of those "sounds brilliant on paper" things but just doesn't work. Reverse intention intentionally never works. It only works IF this is legit- meaning it actually gets people to reconsider MGM if this is genuinely pushing FGM. It's gotta have real wrongness behind it to actually produce a counter effect.

If you watch their videos then you will clearly see that the Youtube channels of Cleansexy and Legalize_female_circ are each meant as a satire. Whoever is behind those channels took the same ridiculous arguments that people use for M.G.M., and instead used them to promote F.G.M. This exposes the hypocritical double standard that exists in the United States. (In all honesty, I wonder if the person behind these channels is Ron Low or somebody.)

It is clear to me that the Youtube user is dedicated to banning M.G.M. and is thereby a part of the "Intactivist" movement. The arguments that the male genitalia is difficult to clean, may become infected, etcetera may be actual, serious arguments that people use to promote M.G.M., but if you use these same arguments to promote the amputation of any other normal body part (which, in the case of Legalize_female_circ, is the lips of a woman's vagina) then their inherent ridiculousness becomes obvious.

Legalize_female_circ, in particular, concludes by arguing that to allow male circumcision, but not female circumcision, is sexist. According to his (satirical) line of reasoning, girls deserve the same protection (provided by circumcision) from sexually transmitted diseases as boys. Cleansexy, however, argues that Aids can be prevented by a simple procedure called female circumcision, which removes less tissue than male circumcision. Cleansexy moves on to cite numerous African studies, the same types of studies used by those who are in favour of M.G.M.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield covered a form of female genital cutting up until the late 1970's. While these types of procedures may not have been as prevalent in the U.S. as male genital cutting they were definitely being promoted and practiced.

By the way, I agree that the YouTube channel in question is clearly satire. It's interesting to see the reactions of people who are comfortable cutting boys but not not girls even when given the same reasons for doing so.

Many people completely miss his actual point: That both MGM and FGM are completely wrong.

He just takes a novel approach, at least among intactivists.

this is awesome. it spreads awareness by angering people who don't get the real message. i hope it encourages people to look up resources on genital mutilation and further read into the wrongs done on people world wide, male, female, and everyone in between. nice, hostile, novel approach to intactivism. sarcasm.

on the flip side though, people are obviously very very stupid, and easily mislead. so i do think that this could have a negative effect on influencing people who don't understand sarcasm.

I just discovered these today and then saw this thread. I intend to keep the links and post them whenever I see a piece on FGM. There is a huge gender blindness about this, especially in Europe.

yes, there are "efforts", but fortunately, there's no success.

Think of it this way, a country is free and slavery is ok. It's ok to take a human and use them without giving them anything in return and making them your property. It's ok because it's normal. This is what everyone does so everyone is used to it already. Now, if a country realize that it's wrong to do that because everyone should have freedom, it's HIGHLY unlikely that in the future the country will go back to slavery even if there are groups that support it...
