where to start when restoring

Ok guys i personally have been busy and have tried to keep restoring but with my new job im extremly tired and soo ive missed several days because of it but im not giving up.

Now i have a friend who is circ'ed and he doesnt know anything about restoring and really wants to know where to start could you guys help me on how or where to start for my friend maybe links to sites with devices,techniques and such thanks guys cody
