I think with such people we can only point out that changing another person's body without rational informed consent is violation of that person's basic human rights. And when they say "so what" we have to make it illegal to do so (as with FGM), and then (unlike what we've seen with FGM) we have to prosecute a few of the motherfuckers.

I think (I think) the point of my post was there's not a really a point in trying to halt traditions because of what we insist is worsesex or a violation. It's not the hardcore minority groups that are starting or joining forums like this (in the main)...the plaintiffs are the descendants of circbenefit propaganda victims--propaganda that has been put out, in the US, by someone.

I say that someone is NOT Muslims and NOT Hasidic Jews...these are religious traditionalists, with basic requirements from their sexuality.

Can't get my thoughts straight at the moment...I personally think that in the unlikely event that it were banned in the US, the violation would not stop for the zealots...they'd just go abroad to have it done (to their kids). What I'd like to see (even more unlikely), and what I think Intactivism should be about, is outlawing the promotion of circ; and allowing religious exemption FOR circ.

If the eventual ban on actual cutting needs exemptions for the hardcore traditionalists, then fine by me. But ALL circ based on reasoning (reasoning--that's a fucking joke) should be outlawed. "I want him to look like his father...so I'm going to cut his cock apart."--how can that be fucking LEGAL, outside of a MADHOUSE!

>>>I say LEGAL for (group who have done it for centuries, and whose sexuality is repressed anyway): and ILLEGAL for ANYONE ELSE. No reasoning allowed, ouside of medical ones.
If that situation were in place, this board would be unnecessary. There are no Trads (shorthand, tiring) here. Just BULLSHIT victims.

I say Intactivism should target circ BULLSHIT, and the BULLSHITTERS--give them a NAME. Saying or shouting "Stop it!" with no specific target is shouting to the wind.

There, I think that might be close to what I wanted to say...time will tell.

BTW--"outlawing the promotion of circ; and allowing religious exemption FOR circ."

If that were to come about in the US, the traditional cutters would be isolated in their cutting. That's what all the propaganda is about, i feel. To legitemise the practice, so they'll feel all comfy about carrying on with it.
If you don't want to be isolated by it OR stop it, then spread it.***

Child's stuff, really. If I bum my kids and don't want to stop bumming my kids, BUT I don't want to be looked down on for bumming my kids, then (if I can) I try to promote the benefits (to the masses) of bumming your kids, so they'll adopt the practice of bumming their kids...and I'm content to carry on.

EDIT--BTW2--of course in the above bumming example I will have been bummed myself in infancy (as was my dad etc), and I'm still OK, and I can't really see what all the fuss is about.

EDIT2--BTW3--***=try to talk others around to your way of thinking about cutting, without mentioning that your lot first started cutting for prehistoric religious reasons.
>>>I like EDIT2: I see the proponents of this abhorrent practice started doing it ages ago for mediaeval reasons...and are now coming up with BENEFITS for it, in the 21st century! And those "benefits" are being swallowed wholesale, by people who prefer to not recognise that the "benefits" are just shite trumped up for convenience!

How is it that no-one replies: "So these 'benefits' of this age-old practice are just a happy coincidence, are they? It just "turns out" that it's beneficial after all? Ooh, that's lucky!"
