We NEED volunteers for the NOCIRC booth at the Ann Arbor Street Art Fairs, Wed, July 18, 2012 to Sat, July 21, 2012.
The need is especially critical this year because a number of our dependable volunteers have moved out-of-state (one to a non-circing part of the world!). Fair rules say the booth MUST be continuously staffed during all hours of the Fair. Norm Cohen, Director of NOCIRC of Michigan, is currently setting up the schedule. We love good street debaters, but pleeease don't feel that you have to be expert in all intactivist issues to participate. If you have no experience, you will be paired with someone who does. It's mostly just handing out pamphlets. It's also great to have extras during booth set up on the Tuesday evening before the Fairs (July 17th, 7 - 9 p.m.), and again, during booth tear down after the Fairs officially close on Saturday evening (July 21st, 6 p.m.). During these mad scrambles, we need people who can carry things, and tend piles of NOCIRC paraphernalia on the sidewalk while others run for cars and vans. We need people who can hold tent poles and tie-downs. Come see how exhilarating it is to work together with people who do not cut others. There will be the traditional after-the-Fairs dinner for everyone at a local restaurant (usually Dutch treat). All intactivists are invited to participate, even if you cannot volunteer to work the Fairs. Contact Norm Cohen for details. For those of you who don't know, Norm Cohen is the son of a rabbi (who personally prefers the atheistic stance), a restored man, and a walking advertisement for the intactivist cause. It is because of his ardent intactivism, and his wherewithal, that there has been a NOCIRC booth at the Ann Arbor Art Fairs for many years running now. NOCIRC gets great exposure during the Ann Arbor Art Fairs. Attendance at the 4-day event is estimated at 500,000. Our booth is situated on a pedestrian corridor between two of the four independently operating Fairs - a pedestrian corridor dedicated to booths for not-for-profits and political causes. A steady stream of people see our prominently displayed NOCIRC banner as they walk by. The audience is younger than most of America, affluent, educated, and more open to being educated on the circ issue than most. We have impact. I personally think that there is no better place to be in the third week of July than at the Ann Arbor Art Fairs in the Great Lake State of Michigan. In addition to the Great Lakes, the Michigan landscape has many small recreational lakes and waterways. You are never more than 6 miles from recreational waters wherever you are in Michigan. After the auto industry, tourism is Michigan's second biggest industry. David World As Monkey Island |

Norm Cohen says that 2012 will be NOCIRC of Michigan's 17th year at the Ann Arbor Art Fairs! 17 YEARS! (Whew!)
We still need people to tend the booth. We would LOVE to have some University of Michigan staff or students, or local Ann Arborites volunteer. We also need people to help with the booth assembly on Tuesday evening. Local U-M students who live on or near campus, who could just wander in on foot, would be great...but any other kind of intactivist would be great too. We will be in the Washtenaw Non-Profit strip on E. Liberty, where all the not-for-profit and political causes booths are located. David World As Monkey Island |

Thanks so much for the emailing, Ron.
Now if you are recipient of one of these emails, and you are committed to intactivism, and if you've ever considered volunteering, this is the time to do it! (If you cannot volunteer, please be reminded to WEAR your TLCtugger.) If you can tend the NOCIRC table of pamphlets for a 2-hour shift, together with another more senior volunteer, you are a valuable player. The More the Merrier. When we have lots of volunteers, it's more fun for everyone. Work shifts become shorter. Each volunteer has more time to see the rest of the Art Fairs. We also are always in need of helpers to set up the booth the Tuesday evening (July 17th) before the official 4-day event begins on Wednesday (July 18, 2012). If you would like to help the intactivist cause, but feel personally unready to make your public debut as a booth staffer, this is the ideal opportunity for you. We need people to hold tent poles and tie-downs. We need people to carry things from the delivery van (which cannot always be parked close to the booth site during the vehicle mega-scramble). Again, The More the Merrier. It's a downer when we have to beg for people on the street to help hold our tent poles while we install the top canopy. It's an article of prestige to have lots of helpers, so we can actually lend out helpers to hold other people's tent poles. Come be a part of the intactivist show of force!
