Default Abortion - round 2

I was going to make a topic on this but may as well post in one already made. What are people's views here on abortion? For myself I've always thought "woman's choice" just because that is my family's opinion, and they are intelligent and good people so I figured they were right. Now I realize the fallacy in my thinking because despite being intelligent and good, they still got me circumcised.

It's amazing though the resistance I feel to actually wanting to learn about the issue. I resent it when someone wants to influence my opinion to match theirs. I realize that this is exactly what people must feel when they hear that circumcision is wrong and that it is mutilation. It's the same way I would tune out when an angry "pro life" (as if I'm "anti life") advocate says I support murdering babies.

Even more intriguing is that the arguments I use to support my views are disturbingly similar to people arguing that MGM is harmless. Some analogous arguments:

"Babies don't feel pain." / "Fetus is not a person and thus feels no pain."

"A woman has a right to do what she wants with her own body." / "Parents have the right to make decisions for their own children."

"It's better to spare them the pain of being an unwanted child." / "It's better to do it early so they don't get teased or get infections."

So anyway this has me questioning myself now. Is abortion as prevalent worldwide as in the US? Do you think it is depriving someone of their choice to live, similar to how circ deprives us of the choice to have a whole body? If anything, this makes me understand better what it feels like when people are for or don't care about MGM and they have their views challenged. I think I can better put myself in their shoes now.

My view on abortion is, the foetus's suffering and aspirations should be taken into account. If you ask it if it wants to live or die, and it ignores you, then it's not concerned about whether it lives or dies, therefore you should use other criteria about whether to abort it or not. The only other criteria I can see that is relevant, is does the mother want to carry it to term?

Anyone else's opinion, including the father's, is irrelevant.

BTW, aren't the names they give themselves amusing? Oh, they call themselves Pro-Life...that must mean we have to call ourselves Anti-Life, or Pro-Death...

Fuck that. Let's call ourselves Pro-Choice, and they can be Anti-Choice (or Pro-Force!)

BTW2--my view on the names, to be correct and accurate, are Pro-Choice and Pro-Force. These people don't give a damn about someone else's foetus. All they're concerned with is forcing people (everyone in their country) to face up to the responsibility of casual, reckless sex.

They have issues, in other words. They don't give a damn about a child being born reluctantly, and the indifferent (or even resentful) upbringing it may receive. Whatever Laws you pass, no-one can force anyone to love a child that wasn't wanted in the first place. But you can make them hate it...

i made the mistake of searching "aborted fetus".
amazing how the religious ppl are pissed about this.
anyway i think aborting is tolerable if one aborts asap.
independent research (for some reason this is not discussed) indicates that women get rid of their eggs once a month.
so there is no reason to go pregnant more than 5 weeks before you are sure you are pregnant, I believe.

aborting a month old fetus is probably little more than having the period.

aborting a six month old fetus must suck.

anyway, abortions do suck. but, they will continue to be around. the classic way of aborting a baby is carrying it into the forest and leaving it there.

i suppose at the end of the day, when a baby is born (s)he (and transsexuals) must be taken care of by someone. is sending the kid directly to gov't facilities better? who knows.

maybe there is no need to ever end up asking these questions. use condoms and have pills around in case anything goes wrong, and you are 100% safe.

i respect women who are careful, and i respect those who desire to remain virgins.

very interesting filosofical debate though, reminding all to keep it in the pants.

Sorry. I thought it would let us re-use a search I did (just pointing to my own posts within this thread). Here's what I wrote before (since the recent post has us starting over):
