Default Does plucking actually work?

Is it possible to stop or thin shaft hairs growth if plucked long enough?

I know its the best natural method so far, and it lasts the longest. Alot smoother than shaving, but it seems to come back eventually. Iv heard that overtime it may thin or even damage the growth but cannot find any research to confirm that.

Anyone have experience?

Plucking pulls the hair out, as compared to cutting it at the surface when shaving. This makes it take longer to grow and emerge form your skin. Some also say that over time, the hair becomes finer and may even stop growing. I do not know about that, but perhaps, if the regular plucking were to damage the hair follicle enough.

Waxing, by the way, is a form of plucking.

Some get ingrown hairs more from plucking than from shaving.

I've seen (facial) plucking condoned on a couple dermatologists' web sites.

I have thick, long and abundant genital hair. Have been plucking for many years. I've got small follicular bumps on the scrotum about 3 times during my lifetime. I wouldn't even call them ingrown, they are usually open enough so I just pull the hair that is under formation out of the bump with tweezers.
It's on the neck where sometimes I get nasty ingrown hair, very hard to find and pull off. Ironically, I don't pluck hair from my neck, only shave there. And after I started plucking from around the ears and nose, they became less unsightly and less of a problem.
So, no need to say, I'm a big fan of plucking.

I wish I could pluck, if I do it anywhere in the genital area the hair will come back ingrown virtually every time and I have to dig it out with the corner of a razor blade, that's how bad it gets. I like it so much better having things smooth but short of paying big bucks for laser or electrolysis I guess I'll have to live with it. I guess it's different for people based on genetics.

I occasionally pluck throughout the years. Sometimes I idly spend hours just to do the entire area while watching something on TV or such.

I've never had a problem with it, but also haven't seen any long-term effects. When it grows back, it's initially much finer and color-less. But, after a few months, it all seems coarse and just like it was to begin with.

I've never had an ingrown hair on my penis or scrotum because of it. But, the very "corner" of the penis and body I've had occasionally - nothing that a scratch and tweezers can't fix.

When I was younger, I was able to shave regularly - in fact I had best results dry-shaving the area. But, I stopped for some reason, and now it's no longer the case. If I do it now, I get ingrown hairs like crazy. Plucking seems to work best for me.

I haven't tried waxing. The nature of a scrotum makes me timid about it - that and I haven't really been interested in phoning around to see who does male genital waxing. And, I've never done anything of the sort on my own before. And, I bet that'd f'n hurt. Plucking stings a few times at first, but then it kinda becomes a slight tingle where you want more - kinda like scratching a satisfying itch.

In my observation, what you describe is related to other hair growing thicker instead of the hair originally plucked. I noticed that it took many waves of plucking for many years so all hair would become equally thin, and they keep getting thinner with the passing of time, sometimes stop growing altogether.

Regarding wax, I tried it once, but the skin in the genital area is too loose and makes it painful or simply doesn't work due to lack of adequate "flesh support."
