I don't have a lot of skin right now, and I just received my TLC-X in the mail today. It seems that my pubic hair always is caught in with my skin, so it's being pulled with the skin (I don't have a lot of skin right now, maybe a CI-2) Has anyone else had this problem? Do I need to shave, or will this problem resolve itself? Pulling the pubic hair makes it difficult to gauge the amount of tension on my skin, rather than on the hairs being pulled. Any insight would be great.

If you don't mind, trim the pubic hair back to an inch or two, and then trim completely any hair growing on skin that can pulled onto the shaft. I use my electric facial shaver. It has a beard trimmer to take hairs down to whisker length so they can then be shaved by the foil-protected cutting head.
If you don't want to do this let us know and we'll work with you. Cheers, -Ron |

If you have enough skin you could use a cock ring to hold it back. I've read about people doing this to prevent scrotal skin from being grown.

I agree with ADMIN, trim that hair down.
Good Luck and find what works for you. KOT. |

The only thing I'm afraid of with trimming the hair is that then it will grow back, and then I'll have to do it again, and then it will grow back faster and faster and then I'll end up with a bigger problem and I'll have to make a habit of shaving down below.
Just curious, what are my other options if I don't do this, that fall under the "we'll work with you" category? |

You needn't worry about increasing the rate of hair growth by shaving. Hair grows at a constant rate and is not affected by shaving. It's a popular myth that it grows faster after it's shaved but it is just not true.

Just about every restorer has to do some hair trimming to accomodate whatever device he is using. That's based upon my experience at NORM meetings in four different towns.
Interestingly, before I started restoring, I was a CI-2.5 and I was constantly getting hairs caught in my foreskin remnant (ouch!). Now that I'm restored (CI-8.5), that hardly ever happens. Increased length seems to solve every problem. So, KOT. David World As Monkey Island |

So then trimming will only be temporary and will not even cause the hair to grow back faster? IF this is the case, then I can deal with this, much better than taping myself to a film canister.

Keeping things smooth by a quick shave when I'm in the shower daily works for me.

I use a different device than the TLC, but do you mean your main patch of pubic hair, or is this hair on the shaft of your penis or nuts you are talking abt? If its on your shaft, you could probably just shave it (carefully, haha) w/out any problems. If you shave regular pubic hair, you will likely get some really bad ingrown hairs when they come back--if that's the case, I would just trim it and start w/that and see if that solves the problem.
