Default CATIIQ verses DTR Question............

I have been using the CATIIQ for several years most days. Progress has been really slow. I have been considering a DTR.

Has anyone tried both the CAT II Q and the DTR?

Are you able to tell me what the pros and cons are of both?

Do you feel that the DTR does something more that the CAT II Q does not do?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

I've only used a CAT II Q, but would think the DTR works in exactly the same way.

Progress is slow with any method. How much tension have you been using?

Thank you for your response.

I have the longer rod in and can go about 2/3 - 3/4 of the length of the longer rod. I give it as much tension as I possibly can. If it starts to feel uncomfortable after a while, I loosen it a bit - but most of the time I can leave it as the origional setting which is as far as I can push it in.

I've used both, probabably with to much tension. try backing off the tension a bit.

Thank you, mrrestoreuk & ctrclckws for your responses. I really appreciate this.

The tension is a good point. This is one of the most difficult things to determine in restoration..........what is too much tension and what is too little tension.

From your comment below, do you feel that the DTR set up for tension is more like "auto-pilot" and therefore would give a more favorable tension than say trying to guess with the CAT??

Other than the tension aspect you mention below on the DTR, are there any other factors to be considered as far as pros and cons for the two devices?

Do you feel one device helps you to restore better than another? Or, do you feel that one device helps you reach your goal faster than another?

Thanks so much for your help. I really appreicate this.

The one that you'll use consistently is the one that will help you most.

I couldn't use the DTR without following Chuck suggestion to use a cosmetic foam pad between the pusher, and my glans.

Using the rubber bands to provide tension didn't work for me so I cut down a spring, placed it around the pusher rod under the gripper bell so the automatic tensioner is internal to the device.

With these techniques I am able to use the DTR with a weight attached.

I use it along with TLC tuggers+weights every day. Which one I choose depends on the activities I think I'll be doing that day.
