Default Finding the Humour

This evening, a good friend told me "if you can't laugh about your traumas, you're not over them."

I started thinking about this after getting into a heated discussion with another friend (who is Jewish) about the San Francisco MGM bill. This is a topic I tend to get very emotional about, and when I thought about it later I realized I would like to reach a place where this is something I can laugh about.

I started looking online for circumcision jokes. Most of them were really just jokes about Jewish stereotypes which actually bordered on anti-Semitic. ("Why are Jewish men circumcised? Because Jewish women won't touch anything that isn't thirty percent off!") or bad puns.

It seemed like most of the jokes about circumcision are just deflection, and I tend to love comics whose humor comes from truth. But at the same time, I've heard people find humor even in subjects like rape or abuse. So it seems like there ought to be some jokes to be made that have the truth about what circumcision is and are still funny. After all - if the people who were abused by Catholic Priests can joke about what they went through, why can't we joke about mutilation?

I also thought... would these jokes still be funny if they were about female circumcision? Would the women I know who are circumcised find jokes about their situation funny? The circumcised woman I work with probably would. If the two of us got into this, we could probably make FGM jokes the new dead baby jokes - so wrong, yet so funny.

So I'm curious - does anyone have any good jokes about genital mutilation?

And yes, this thread could get offensive. Just make sure it's funny.

When I set up our humor section I was thinking mostly of silly stuff that happens to us while wrangling restoring hardware, not necessarily about jokes.

In this case, I see humor as a way of trivializing an awkward or even painful subject, as a way to cope with it and even justify what has happened when you can't do anything about it. Jokes about circumcision serve to make it seem acceptable, which is why I don't joke about it. When I see others doing so, it's hard for me not to read between the lines and see the pain behind that kind of humor. After all, these are jokes about a form of abuse.

If you want to get to a point where you can laugh, laugh about foreskin restoration. We've all gotta step back sometimes and look at all the funny shit we're doing with our dicks. You've got people using devices that look like some kind of physics experiment, or Ron's device that looks like a penis lampshade, or people who use weights and are literally swinging some pipe down there.

Sometimes when it's hard you gotta laugh at life. It is the most useful thing.

The "single white spenny episode 6" is really funny, about a clumsy use of a foreballs-like weight.

I find a great comeback to male pro-circumcisers is "when they circumcised you they threw away the wrong part". However I'm sure they are just as likely to turn it against us.
